The Dynamics of Light: Exploring How Light Changes Colour

We get asked a lot "is it true to colour'?

This is a really hard question to answer.

Because 'light' possesses a captivating ability to change colour under various circumstances. Colour, an integral aspect of our visual experience, undergoes intriguing transformations when viewed in different environments. One such phenomenon is the perceived darkening of colours when observed in enclosed spaces, such as rooms or indoor settings.

One of the best examples is our stunning Oh La La wallpaper that came out in the Home and Garden magazine.

We had so many people commenting 'what colour is it?'.

I would reply 'Sand'.

'Oh No' they all said 'its not dark enough'.

But it was Sand. I double and triple checked the original order. It was also printed in  the article 'Sand'.

Why did no-one believe me?

Why do the following two images look different when they are the same colour?

There are so many parts to a room that can totally alter the appearance of colour. Used in a darker space with no natural light - wallpaper can look darker. Add dark bedding, dark curtains and the room darkens again.

Oh La La Concrete Wallpaper - Sand Colourso being true to colour is hard for us to answer as it is always going to appear different in different spaces.

Consider the following three images - the same wallpaper and colour, but all of them appear different. All of them accurate in their own way.
